WSJwine Yarrunga Field Black Label Barossa 2010

The Australians invented Shiraz/Cabs. But Sam Trimboli’s ‘Black Label’ (known in Aussie wine circles as really top-notch stuff) takes it to a sumptuous new level.

Unique

One of the advantages of being a member of WSJwine is that one gets to sample some wine that one would not normally have access to. This is one of those times. Unique flavor (to me) and I enjoyed it. my note to self was "it goes down well"

Disappointed
Date:October 19, 2013
We added a bottle of this wine to our last shipment based upon its high reviews, but both my wife and I found it to be quite disappointing. I was a bit worried after uncorking the bottle as the bottom of the cork only displayed a pale soft red color. We decanted the wine for a full hour before drinking. It poured a black cherry / mulberry type of color. It had a substantial nose which projected the aromas of black currants, tobacco and eucalyptus. When tasted we actually found the wine to be a bit thin. The fruit flavors seemed to be weak as compared to the significant amount of sweet spice taste. The finish was very short and lacking of depth and left a bitter tobacco taste on the roofs of our mouths. This wine we just cannot recommend.

Very enjoyable wine

What's not to like? It's got a lovely rich red color, dense fruit flavor, smooth and just right with food or just drinking a glass or two with friends. It's a great all-purpose wine.

Good With both Steak and Shrimp Arribiata
Date:August 27, 2013
I'm not a wine expert, but this wine, with a good full flavor, was a good pair for both steak on the barbie, and a spicy shrimp in red sauce with garlic, red pepper flakes, and fresh basil.

Smooth and Tasty

We opened 3 wines over the Holidays. This was by far the best. I've tasted wines costing 5 times as much that were not this good. Highly recommended.
